Living Large
Friends, Family, Community,
Over the New Year,
I had this notion of making myself invisible
and in doing thus
I'd alleviate the uncertainty.
Tread lightly was my mantra.
So,
I went to
a silent vipassana,
several self care getaways
set my intentions.
Yet like a black star
I felt my prana shrinking.
I felt itsy bitsy.
To grow up,
I began observing,
remembering,
watching
those who have
chosen to Live Large
when facing off
adversity
uncertainty
division.
My Family,
Nelson Mandela,
Anne Frank,
Malala Yousafzai,
President Carter
Martin Luther King Jr.
were some who
told me to dig deep
and let the Live Large part of me
shine.
The message:
we are not meant to be black stars
but to be shining lights blazing towards
making all good things
come good.
OMwards!

The notion became an anthem after listening to those who came before.
It was made clear that humans must live bonded to inspiration, honesty and compassion.
I and several other grit driven women were interviewed by the Washington Post for stepping into the financial marketplace when adversity struck.

Another reminder.
The numbers are multiplying for those I know who have lost
their livelihoods; their homes; their loved ones.
Californians live large and on the edge of brilliance.
Yet we are tethered to a fragile ecosystem that is even more brittle
with climate change.
Californians have grit and we'll build bigger and smarter.
