The Boulder in the Road

"Impossible is not a declaration.
It's a dare.
Impossible is potential.
Impossible is temporary.
Impossible is nothing"

~Muhammed Ali

Family, Friends, Community,

My Mother Mary
adored Muhammed Ali.
She exemplified his living tenets.
She is part of that tenacious human posse,
who kicked adversity aside
when numerous boulders in the road
blocked their every move.
They stood up,
created clever go - arounds
and with raw fierceness,
stared down the dark.
They want you to remember.
Remember where you're from.
Remember that fierce DNA that runs through your blood.
Remember the elegant intelligence that can cut through
the choke hold of patriarchy.
Remember who you are
and continue to
" Float like a butterfly,
sting like a bee.
You can't hit what your eyes don't see."

Come back home to you.
Rest.
Nourish.
Love.
Repeat.

OMwards!
M

This reminded me.

"I know today is a heavy day for many of you.
And for others,
it's an exciting moment.
No matter which side you're on,
there's something I hope we can remember.
And that is
that hope does not arrive,
unbidden,
on the back of a silvery bird,
deposited on our doorstep during the night.
Hope was a choice.
Hope was fought for.
Hope rose from the ring,
bloodied and broken,
to fight again.
