Shame on Us, when children have to speak out to protect their lives. The courage and advanced wisdom that these young adults displayed since the Parkland shooting five days ago is in stark contrast to the irresponsible, callous and egotistical 20th century patriarchal public servants. Who, when they took office pledged a solemn oath to uphold the constitution and the protection of everyone in our country. On a day when we are celebrating love, the specter of our divisiveness has cost more innocent life. I have become numb to the insidious rhetoric that is bandied about while yet another mass shooting has slipped through this BS and has herded us like sheep further away from what is right. The sacredness of life. This has shook me and awakened me to recognize my own complicity in what is happening around me. I am firstly angry with myself. Then a quiet resolve has set in to focus my attention on an armistice that holds life above all else. I've written this piece to come out from under my rock and champion Our greater good. I am setting my intention for the focus of our common threads of humanity. My namesake The Republic of France's Marianne, Liberté, Fraternité and Égalité has never rung truer for me.
Here are some movements that have come from this tragedy and all the shootings that have fallen upon us. Find the ones that speak to you. Take action. Speak up. Let Truth be Your Guide.
