Stonehenge Solstice
Family Friends Community,
The Winter Solstice whispers in my ear,
"Time to light the fire within."
Animals settling into the darkness.
Trees shedding the colours of Autumn.
Weather moves to cold.
Deep slumber awaits.
Let's be,
Easy in the dark.
Humankind sacred rituals stoke the inner light to find ease and grace.
Diwali - Hindu celebration of light.
Channukah - The eight-day Jewish celebration known as Hanukkah or Chanukah commemorates the rededication during the second century B.C. of the Second Temple in Jerusalem. The Yehudim had risen up against their Greek-Syrian oppressors in the Maccabean Revolt and won. To celebrate they found an oil lamp with only one days worth of oil that miraculously stayed lit for eight days.
Winter Solstice - Pagan ritual on the longest night of the year.
Yuletide - Original version of Christmas. Yuletide is the much older of the two words; its first half, yule, derives from an Old English noun geōl. Both geōl and the Old Norse (jōl) refer to a midwinter pagan festival that took place in December.
Toji - Shinto ritual of purification during the Winter Solstice. Taking hot baths in an Onsen or natural mineral hot springs is a customary way of honoring purification and preparation for Winter.
Kwanzaa - Festival of first fruit during Winter time for West and Southeast African Cultures.
All rich in the honoring
We Are The Light
when the outside is dark.
May you and all
be embraced by the inner glow of your light.
I'm soaking it in,
and celebrating You!
Brights On Winter Solstice!
